Gor Mahia booked their place in the semi-finals of the 2026 CECAFA Kagame Cup after edging Djiboutian champions Garde Républicaine 1-0 in a tense Group A decider played at Kigali Pele Stadium on Thursday evening.
A fourth-minute strike from new signing Paul Okoth proved enough to separate the two sides, as Charles Akonnor’s men overcame the challenge of playing the final 18 minutes with ten men to seal a crucial victory and finish top of the group. The result, coupled with APR’s 2-1 victory over previously unbeaten Vipers SC at Amahoro Stadium, saw Gor Mahia progress as Group A winners on a superior goal difference in one of the most dramatic nights of the group stage.
