Former Gor Mahia Secretary General Samuel Ochola Kwenda has successfully obtained a High Court injunction temporarily stopping a key agenda item at the club’s Annual General Meeting (AGM) scheduled for Sunday, 2 August.
Kwenda, who lost the Secretary General’s seat to incumbent Nicanor “Nick” Arum in the club’s most recent elections, moved to the High Court seeking to halt the approval of nominated members to Gor Mahia’s Board of Trustees.
In a press statement signed by current Secretary General Nicanor Arum, the club confirmed that the High Court had issued an interim injunction restraining the AGM from deliberating on and approving the nominated trustees under Article 7 of the club’s Constitution. The orders were issued in High Court Civil Case No. E25 of 2026, filed by Kwenda against Gor Mahia Football Club and the Hon. Attorney General.
According to the statement, Kwenda argues that his rights could be infringed if the AGM proceeds to nominate and approve members to the Board of Trustees.The club further stated that the former Secretary General bases his petition on what it described as his professional distinction as a corporate marketer and his extensive experience in football administration.
The matter has been fixed for mention on 7 October, 2026, when the High Court is expected to issue further directions. The latest legal battle returns Kwenda to the center of Gor Mahia’s governance affairs just months after he was voted out as Secretary General during the club’s elections. The Board of Trustees is one of the club’s key governance organs, entrusted with safeguarding Gor Mahia’s assets and ensuring the club operates in line with its constitution.

The governance dispute comes at a busy period for the record FKF Premier League champions, who are currently competing in the CECAFA Kagame Cup in Rwanda while also preparing for the preliminary round of the CAF Champions League.With the matter now before the High Court, Gor members will await further directions when the case comes up for mention in October, a hearing that could determine the future of the club’s Board of Trustees approval process.
