Nicolas Bosshardt, the 19-year-old São Paulo footballer and one of the Brazilian club’s brightest defensive prospects, was involved in a serious road accident in which an 84-year-old pedestrian lost his life. The teenager has been released pending further legal proceedings while authorities investigate allegations that he was driving above the speed limit and taking part in an illegal street race moments before the crash.
Bosshardt did not flee the scene. He immediately called the emergency services, tried to assist the victim, and waited for the police to arrive. Tests later confirmed that he had no alcohol in his system.
