No way out of the Forest – no win for Liverpool

Last week in Newcastle, Liverpool saved their skin thanks to Dominik Szoboszlai's penalty deep into stoppage time, salvaging a 2-2 draw.Today at Anfield, Victor Munoz came to the rescue against Nottingham Forest eight minutes from time, securing another 2-2 draw.FT: Liverpool 2-2 Nottingham Forest.LIVERPOOL ONCE AGAIN DROP POINTS, THAT'S 2 POINTS OUT OF A POSSIBLE 6, A HORRIBLE START TO THE NEW PREMIER LEAGUE SEASON! 🤯 pic.twitter.com/JLNQz8cwzD— The Touchline | 𝐓 (@TouchlineX) August 29, 2026 And while things do not look particularly good for Liverpool and Andoni Iraola, who are still winless in the Premier League, today's game was a step forward for the Trees and Oliver Glasner, who earned a valuable point away to one of the league's giants after starting the season with two defeats to Leeds, in the Premier League and EFL Cup respectively.Overall, Liverpool were better, but lacked a cutting edge. Nottingham broke the deadlock in the 24th minute through Dan Ndoye, and awaited the break with the lead, as Florian Wirtz's 32nd-minute leveller was disallowed for offside.Man City put on a masterclass – Haaland and Cherki drop braces to blow Palace awayAfter Alexander Isak equalized on the hour mark, many expected the home team's complete comeback. Instead, Alisson brought down Neco Williams in the box, and Morgan Gibbs-White put the Trees back in the lead just 10 minutes following the Swede's goal.Nevertheless, Iraola's team once again demonstrated a genuine never-say-die spirit, earning a point thanks to Victor Munoz's screamer in the 82nd minute.Given the scoreline, the Reds did well to avoid defeat, though their supporters can't be happy with two points from their opening two Premier League games.PREMIER LEAGUE – MATCHDAY 2FridayCrystal Palace – Manchester City 1-4 (0-1)/Donnarumma 56 og – Haaland 17, 84, Cherki 54, 59/SaturdayLiverpool – Nottingham Forest 2-2 (0-1)/Isak 60, Munoz 82 – Ndoye 24, Gibbs-White 70 pen/17.00: (2.15) Bournemouth (3.40) Everton (3.40)17.00: (1.95) Coventry (3.50) Hull (3.90)19.30: (2.35) Tottenham (3.50) Newcastle (2.95)Sunday16.00: (1.90) Chelsea (3.50) Brighton (4.10)16.00: (2.65) Leeds (3.20) Brentford (2.75)16.00: (2.50) Sunderland (3.25) Fulham (2.90)18.30: (1.38) Manchester United (4.80) Ipswich (7.30)Monday22.00: (6.25) Aston Villa (4.00) Arsenal (1.55)***odds are subject to change***
