Coach Thomas Okong’o understands the pain of AFC Leopards’ long wait for the Football Kenya Federation Premier League (FKFPL) title. He sees and feels it with each passing day.Download our Mozzart Sport App for more newsOkong’o was part of the Leopards team that won the club’s last league title in 1998, featuring as a goalkeeper.##NAJAVA_MECA_10055723##Having tasted league glory as a player, Okong'o hopes that some of the players he is currently shaping at Rada Sports will not only end Ingwe's drought, but also help establish massive dominance similar to that of Gor Mahia. Known for his eye for raw talent and grassroot coaching in Eastlands, Okong'o believes that some of the players, at his disposal, have what it takes to rise all the way to Premier League and play for Leopards. "It pains me to see AFC Leopards go for years without the league title. However, some of us are doing something about it by ensuring that the next generation of players are readily available," he told Mozzart Sport. His effort to supply Leopards to talent was boosted by the leading gaming firm, Mozzart Bet, whp visited the team at their Buruburu training base. The form, through their initiative named New Jersies for New Champions, donated full 23 uniforms and two footballs. "The donation is timely considering that the team is young and not self- reliant. It will go a long way in helping the players realise their full potential. It also part of what I need to coach the players to the top level," remarked the former Jericho All Stars coach. Besides nurturing the next men who will bring joy to the den, the former Gor Mahia player seeks to use his network and guide the outstanding ones to the professional rank. Having worked at Mombasa Elite, an outfit that largely focused on scouting talented players and ripening them for European market, Okong'o hopes to have a few Rada Sports products play abroad. "We appreciate Mozzart Bet for the donation as it will play a role in our resolve to export talent, " added Okong'o.
