CAF President Dr Patrice Motsepe, together with government officials and football federation leaders from Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda, have agreed to establish the PAMOJA Oversight Committee for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) following a Monday meeting held on the sidelines of the Africa Summit in Nairobi.
The high-level engagement brought together key stakeholders as preparations intensify for the first-ever AFCON to be jointly hosted by the three East African nations.]
Among those present were Kenya’s Cabinet Secretary for Youth Affairs, Creative Economy and Sports, Salim Mvurya; Tanzania’s Minister for Information, Culture, Arts and Sports, Paul Makonda; and Uganda’s Minister of State for Sports, Peter Ogwang. Also in attendance were FKF President Mohammed Hussein, TFF President Wallace Karia, FUFA President Moses Magogo, and CAF Acting General Secretary Samson Adamu.
The meeting concluded with the signing of a joint resolution formally establishing the PAMOJA Oversight Committee, effective immediately. The committee will oversee strategic direction, coordination, and delivery of AFCON 2027 preparations across Kenya, Tanzania, and Uganda.
The roadmap agreed upon outlines key milestones to be achieved by August 2026, including accelerated stadium and infrastructure development, confirmation of host venues and operational plans, enhanced cross-border coordination on visas, immigration, customs, and mobility, as well as strengthened safety, security and medical preparedness. Delivery of core tournament infrastructure and services was also prioritised.

Dr Motsepe moved to reassure stakeholders over the readiness of the region to host the tournament, stating that preparations remain firmly on track and progress is satisfactory.“Allegations that East Africa is not ready are unfounded. East Africa will not be deprived of the opportunity to host AFCON 2027. We are satisfied with the progress we are seeing on infrastructure development across the host nations. AFCON 2027 is firmly on track, and we are confident in the delivery plans presented by the host nations.”
