Fouzi Lekjaa is a true lobbyist. His daytime job is Morocco’s Minister Delegate for the Budget, but he is also the president of the Royal Moroccan Football Federation, and as such, he is a fiery lobbyist for his county and whole of Africa, at least on paper. And he is prepared to face criticism for it, but it doesn’t mean he will back down, on the contrary. After already being confronted over his claims that the World Cup 2030 final will be played in Morocco, Lekjaa continued to push his idea in public.
When he first announced that idea and presented it as an already finished thing, he was denied by FIFA, who claimed that the decision about the final game has yet to be made. But just days after, he started the topic again.”We never talked about a final, we follow the processes, we respect the procedures and the regulations. Morocco, as we explained from the start, represents Africa, so we are a continent alongside our European colleagues, represented by Spain and Portugal. We are not three countries driven by rivalry. We work towards complementary approaches that reflect civilization, culture, etc… But we will always be there for the rights of Africa and the Kingdom of Morocco, which, in my opinion, has the right to host a World Cup final for the second time in a century” he said it in an interview given to Jeune Afrique.

Fouzi Lekjaa has another agenda for sure. The president of the Moroccan Football Federation is big supporter of FIFA president Gianni Infantino, and it is quite possible that if the Swiss executive is re-elected, his idea about Casablanca as the World Cup final will be pushed again. Lekjaa was even criticized by his own prime minister over this.”Do not offer to host the great final match in Morocco while we have not yet discussed the matter with our two allies, Spain and Portugal. There must be some respect, brothers” said Aziz Akhannouch at the election rally.
