The sacking of Arne Slot has come as a great surprise. From a result point of view, it was somehow logical. The Dutch manager finished as fifth in the league with a high number of defeats (20), most since 1993. He also had to deal with public dissatisfaction from Mohamed Salah, while his record signing Alexander Isak was injured for most of the season. And while his predecessor Jurgen Klopp was given multiply seasons to create a winning team, Slot was let go after only two seasons, despite a vote of confidence just month ago and despite the fact that he won the Premier League in his maiden year. The availability of new modern manager Andoni Iraola, whose former boss in Bournemouth in now as an executive in Liverpool also didn’t help. So far, the Dutchman had two job offers and turned them down both.🚨 Arne Slot one of several candidates for Al-Ahli with Matthias Jaissle set to join Newcastle. However, it is understood Slot is set to prioritise a move within Europe. pic.twitter.com/lCJI9A..
