And how could you part ways with someone like that without giving him the chance to transform a giant club in the long run? Those at Old Trafford realized that Michael Carrick deserved a real opportunity, Jim Ratcliffe gave the green light, and today Carrick was officially unveiled as the man who signed a new contract with United — a deal running until 2028, with an option for an additional year.

Since taking over from Ruben Amorim in mid-January, Carrick has managed the team in 16 matches and recorded 11 wins. More than enough to make United the best team in the Premier League during the second half of the season and secure the English giant’s return to the Champions League.
