Lampard’s phoenix has definitely risen! Coventry stun woeful Magpies

Frank Lampard's Coventry City made history on Monday night! Their 4-1 spectacular triumph over Newcastle United, which launched them to 14th place, was Coventry's first Premier League home win in 25 years. Moreover, it was their first-ever EPL victory at the CBS Arena. And their only second win in the current season, after four consecutive defeats. ##TWITTER_

Our first ever @PremierLeague win at the @CBSArena. ⚡️ https://t.co/u4OkZl6gRx
— Coventry City (@CoventryCityFC) October 12, 2026
##Arsenal, Hull, Manchester City and Brighton had all taken their shots at Coventry. Now Lampard's men have hit back – and the Magpies were the ones left flat on the canvas. After getting back on their feet with a win over Nottingham Forest at the City Ground, Coventry proved that result was no fluke, crushing Newcastle 4-1 to underline their determination to fight for their place in the Premier League. They will not surrender their top-flight status without a fight. The hosts could hardly have asked for a better start. Just four minutes in, Czech goalkeeper Lukas Hornicek conceded a penalty after failing to gather the ball before bringing down Sidiki Cherif. Jack Rudoni stepped up and calmly converted from the spot.##TWITTER_

🚨🔵 Coventry City have now won back-to-back matches in the Premier League! 📈 ✅ 1-0 win vs Nottingham Forest ✅ 4-1 win vs Newcastle United Big results for Frank Lampard's side. 👏 https://t.co/rPZlVkJI1k
— EuroFoot (@eurofootcom) October 12, 2026
##The match remained scrappy, with Newcastle struggling to find their rhythm. Matias Fernandez-Pardo missed a good chance late in the first half, and the visitors were punished almost immediately after the restart.Cherif made it 2-0, controlling the ball inside the box to create space before firing past Hornicek. Lampard had every reason to celebrate, but Newcastle were not finished yet.At least Sven Botman was not. With his teammates short of ideas, the Dutch defender took matters into his own hands, driving forward before unleashing a rocket to give Newcastle hope.##TWITTER_

Sidiki Cherif 's first goal with Coventry https://t.co/wplCTeVOCv
— Goals Xtra (@GoalsXtra) October 12, 2026
####TWITTER_

🚨 Stephen Mfuni 86'. Instead, Newcastle unravelled in the closing stages. Joelinton dallied on the ball when trying to play out from the back, paid the price for his hesitation and was dispossessed. Ellis Simms seized the opportunity to put Coventry firmly in control. Then came the finishing blow. After Simms' effort took a slight deflection, substitute Stephen Mfuni unleashed a superb diagonal strike to seal a memorable 4-1 victory.ENGLISH PREMIER LEAGUE – MATCHDAY 6SaturdayArsenal – Leeds 2-1 (0-0)/Calafiori 62, Guimaraes 70 – Justin 55/Aston Villa – Brentford 2-2 (1-1)/Jackson 12, McGinn 77 – Yarmoliuk 10, Ajer 79/Chelsea – Bournemouth 5-1 (2-0)/Henderson 2, 70, Silva 3 og, Joao Pedro 46, 67 – Evanilson 51/Ipswich – Fulham 2-1 (0-0)/Ouattara 88, O'Shea 90+1 – Sessegnon 55/Sunderland – Brighton 0-2 (0-0)/De Cuyper 53, Hadjam 90+3/Man.
