When coach Godfrey Bowen and members of the community came together to establish Maron City Football Club in 2025, their goal was clear: to build a team from the grassroots and steadily work its way to the top.The community in the Maron area in Embobut-Embolot Ward envisioned a club that would take measured steps in its development, with the ultimate ambition of reaching the Football Kenya Federation Premier League (FKFPL) within 10 years.Download our Mozzart Sport App for more newsThe decision to form the club was driven by the saturation of talented young players in the area, as well as the awe-inspiring rise of APS Bomet, who defied the odds to earn promotion to Kenya’s top-flight last year.##NAJAVA_MECA_9928323##APS Bomet were promoted to the top tier last year alongside Nairobi United. The installation of Cabinet Secretary for Interior and National Administration, Kipchumba Murkomen, as APS Bomet’s patron provided another source of inspiration for the fledgling club. For starters, Maron City FC considers Murkomen not only as a strong pillar of support for its activities but also a neighbour and a fan of the club. When Mozzart Bet paid the team a visit at its training base, scores of their players openly expressed their desire to fight all the way to the Premier League and have a team from Elgeyo Marakwet in the country’s top-tier.In a bid to support that dream, Mozzart Bet, through its New Jerseys for New Champions initiative, donated 23 full kits, two footballs and a goalpost net to the club. The donation was in line with the firm’s resolve to uplift grassroots clubs and contribute to the development of football in the country.Speaking after receiving the donation, captain Mark Kimutai thanked Mozzart Bet for the support, describing it as a timely boost to the team’s ambitions.“We are very grateful to Mozzart Bet for believing in us and supporting our dream. These kits and equipment have come at the right time and will motivate us to work even harder. We know the journey to the Premier League is not easy, but this support has given us renewed confidence. We have a 10-year plan, and our goal is to keep improving every season, moving step by step until we achieve our dream,” said the attacking midfielder. At the same time, Kimutai expressed his appreciation to the Onesmus Kipchumba Murkomen (OKM) Foundation, which accompanied Mozzart Bet during the visit, for its continued support of the team and the wider community.“We sincerely appreciate the OKM Foundation for supporting us well over time, particularly in football and other community activities. Their support has motivated us to keep pursuing our ambitions,” added Kimutai.
