Gor Mahia have completed the signing of Kakamega Homeboyz defender Portipher Odhiambo, strengthening their defence ahead of the new FKF Premier League season.The champions moved quickly to secure the services of the highly rated centre-back, who had been on their radar for some time.
A reliable source within Gor Mahia confirmed the deal, saying the club had been monitoring Odhiambo and saw an opportunity to bring him in as they look to reinforce their backline.“Portipher has been on our radar for quite some time. We have always liked his qualities and believe he can add value to the team.
We are also keen on reuniting him with Sylvester Owino, whom he played with at Vihiga Bullets,” the source said.The move assumes even greater importance with Owino currently sidelined by injury. Gor Mahia have consequently turned to Odhiambo as an immediate reinforcement while also reuniting two defenders whose partnership dates back to their days at Vihiga Bullets.

Odhiambo and Owino were part of the Vihiga Bullets side that secured promotion to the top flight, with Odhiambo playing a pivotal role in the campaign.His performances earned him the 2020/21 National Super League Most Valuable Player award, after which he secured a move to Kakamega Homeboyz.
