Brighton fans had one reason to celebrate earlier in the day, but that number has now risen to two. On a day when the hosts were marking the 125th anniversary of their first official match, and with Arsenal visiting for what was a huge occasion, Fabian Hurzeler’s side put on a superb performance. Arsenal were badly wounded already in the first half, before being completely knocked out in the second.THREE GOALS & THREE POINTS AT HOME! 💙🤍 pic.twitter.com/ng3vyJSPJx— Brighton & Hove Albion (@BHAFC) September 19, 2026 Brighton have produced a stunning first-half performance against Arsenal and take a deserved 2-0 lead into the break at the Amex. The Seagulls started brightly and immediately put the visitors under pressure, with Kadioglu firing over after Brighton worked the ball into a dangerous position. Moments later, David Raya had to make a big save to deny Kostoulas after the Brighton forward found himself in the box following a fortunate ricochet.Arsenal struggled to settle and were largely kept away from danger, while Brighton continued to look the more threatening side. Their pressure was eventually rewarded in the 30th minute when Pascal Gross was given far too much time on the edge of the area. The midfielder took full advantage, curling a superb strike off the inside of the post and into the opposite corner, leaving Raya with no chance.Brighton lead against the champions and it's Pascal Gross with his fourth Premier League goal of the season. The veteran German midfielder had to be inch perfect to beat Arsenal goalkeeper David Raya as his effort arrowed in off the inside of the post.Could the Arsenal… pic.twitter.com/ua1BcMWLCn— The Athletic | Football (@TheAthleticFC) September 19, 2026 The goal only increased Brighton's confidence. Kostoulas had another opportunity from almost the same position as Gross, while Ayari later came close after Kadioglu pulled the ball back to him inside the area, only for his powerful effort to fly into the side netting.Arsenal finally created a major chance just before the break. After a Brighton corner was blocked, the Gunners launched a quick counter-attack, with Odegaard finding Saka, whose effort was saved brilliantly by Verbruggen. But just 30 seconds later, Arsenal were punished at the other end. Kostoulas was once again afforded too much space on the edge of the box and made no mistake, drilling a low finish into the bottom corner to make it 2-0.The Premier League champions have been completely stunned by Brighton, who head into half-time with a commanding advantage.Albion are ahead at HT against Arsenal! 👏 pic.twitter.com/yjyMSTcDGN— Brighton & Hove Albion (@BHAFC) September 19, 2026 Brighton picked up where they left off after the break, continuing to control the game and leaving Arsenal with very little room to respond. The hosts almost added a third in the 50th minute after Arsenal lost possession in the centre circle. Kostoulas raced into the box, but his effort went wide of Raya’s far post.Six minutes later, however, Brighton finally found the third. Gross delivered a dangerous corner towards the far post, where Andres rose highest and headed the ball home. Arsenal’s defending was poor once again, and at 3-0, the game looked effectively over.Brighton came close to making it four in the 68th minute, with another corner causing chaos in the Arsenal box. Raya came off his line but failed to reach the delivery, allowing Struijk to connect with a header at the near post.
