Bandari striker Beja Nyamawi has set his sights on finishing the 2026/2027 Football Kenya Federation Premier League (FKFPL) season as the top scorer while earning a place in the Harambee Stars squad for the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).
Speaking to Citizen Digital, Nyamawi said he was determined to turn his club performances into an opportunity to represent Kenya at senior international level. The striker scored 14 goals to finish fourth in the league’s top scorers’ chart during the 2024/2025 campaign and is now targeting an even more productive season after an injury-hit previous campaign.
“I aim to feature in the AFCON games. I was in the Harambee Stars CHAN training camp but did not make the final squad. My focus now is on AFCON,” Nyamawi told Citizen Digital.“My target is to finish the season as the top scorer and secure a place in the national team for AFCON,” he added.
The forward is also eager to make up for lost time after managing just one league appearance during the 2025/2026 campaign because of injury. Having recovered from the setback, Nyamawi is looking forward to a consistent season as he seeks to rediscover the scoring form that made him one of the league’s most effective forwards two seasons ago.

“I am happy to be back after missing almost the entire last season. I urge my fans to pray that I have an injury-free season so I can get the job done,” he said. The Dockers strengthened their attacking options with the return of Derrick Nsibambi and the signing of Lawrence Okoth, moves Nyamawi believes will improve the team’s scoring threat. “We are working very well, and I know that together we will achieve our goals, both as a team and individually,” he said. He has a senior international appearance for Harambee Stars, having made his debut on 10 June 2025, when Kenya faced Chad in a friendly in Morocco.
