Bruuuuuno! Guimaraes saves Arsenal from fantastic Leeds

The long-awaited Premier League football is back and no one was more eager to start the match than Arsenal players. The current champions were thrashed by Brighton before the break, and not only conceded three goals, but looked rather helpless. This was a big hit for them and after three weeks, they wanted to go back to winning days and prove this bad display was just a one-off. As far as the result goes, the mission was done as the Gunners defeated Leeds 2-1, but this was by far a good game for Mikel Arteta’s men. For the first hour of the match, Leeds was dominant, better and even took the lead. Raya had to make three saves in the first half in order to prevent more goals in his net but Calafiori used a rare Leeds mistake to equalize. It was Bruno Guimaraes who came off the bench only to score seven minutes later after another Leeds mistake.Declan Rice ✓ Bruno Guimaraes My Midfielders ❤️ https://t.co/hr9W8eRH1M— Nino1ARSENAL (@makininazo) October 10, 2026 The Brazilian midfielder had a lot of kilometers to cross from Brazil and wasn’t named in the starting 11, but came as a sub just in time to score the winner. Leeds didn’t deserve to lose as they were the better team for most of the game, but football doesn’t work that way. The guests didn’t use their chances and were punished for it, plain and simple, but their coach Daniel Farke will be satisfied if this performance continues in future games.Riccardo Calafiori has not disappointed me He has scored the equalizer for the Arsenal What a goal https://t.co/SKLiKtOyw6— Kabalest 🇺🇬 (@Kabalest) October 10, 2026 Leeds were better in the first half and created better chances in the first half. To be precise, Arsenal had only one real opportunity, when Havertz found himself free in the box but headed the ball straight at Trafford. Everything else was created by Leeds. First it was Okafor who took a shot in the eight minute and the ball went near the post. Everyone thought that it was an offside, and maybe that is why Arsenal defenders didn’t react well, but the flag stayed down. Leeds was bound to take the lead in the 25th minute, when Stach was well positioned and took a shot from a close range, but unfortunately, his volleyed effort was blocked by his own team-mate. It was Bogle who nearly scored himself just two minutes later, but Raya was there with a parade to prevent a goal. Just before the half-time, the Spanish keeper again made a fantastic save after Gudmundsson's thunderous effort.Omg the shot from Justin to score this goal is just extraordinary 🔥🔥 https://t.co/GRe41ELlhP— Fan (@VinijrArmyCR7) October 10, 2026 The restless Emirates crowd expected a complete turnover in the second half, but instead of Arsenal’s domination, we saw brave Leeds who even opened the scoring in the 55th minute. Arsenal had a proper chance before that, but Odegaard’s shot was weak and Trafford easily picked it up. Gudmundsson's cross went all the way through the Arsenal box untouched and reached Justin, whose volley was not gonna be stopped: 0-1. And while the guests didn’t hold on and tried to score the second one, the champions managed to equalize out of nothing. Calafiori ghosted into the box late, completely unmarked and just found a way past Trafford after the header back across goal from White in the 62nd minute. That was all Arsenal players needed – a spark. The Gunners continued to push and in the 70th minute came the winner. The flick from Rice inside the penalty area came to Guimaraes who was all alone and took a precise shot to the right post from 16 meters for 2-1.ENGLISH PREMIER LEAGUE – MATCHDAY 6SaturdayArsenal – Leeds 2-1 (0-0)/Calafiori 62, Guimaraes 70 – Justin 55/17.00: (2.70) Aston Villa (3.35) Brentford (2.60) 17.00: (1.80) Chelsea (3.70) Bournemouth (4.40) 17.00: (2.80) Ipswich (3.40) Fulham (2.50)17.00: (3.10) Sunderland (3.40) Brighton (2.30) 19.30: (1.75) Man.Utd.
