Manchester City return to Premier League action this weekend with football offering Enzo Maresca’s players a chance to escape the biggest crisis to engulf the club – even if only for 90 minutes. For the first time since the Premier League published its findings on the 115 charges against City, the club's international players have reunited at the training ground. ##LINKED_NEWS_69695##Nine days after the verdicts were released, the squad is back together and preparing for a daunting trip to Liverpool on Sunday, with Maresca making it clear that the turmoil surrounding the club cannot be allowed to follow them onto the pitch. The Premier League found City guilty of the majority of the charges brought against them, with the report stating that the club had used "sham" contracts to disguise more than £830m in secret funding. City have appealed and continue to maintain their innocence, but the fallout has inevitably cast a shadow over the club.18.30: (2.75) Liverpool (3.45) Man.City (2.50)Most of the squad were away on international duty when the verdicts emerged, meaning Thursday was effectively their first opportunity to come together since the findings were made public.Maresca used that moment to address his players, urging them to remain focused and positive and not allow the crisis to alter their attitude as domestic football resumes.Erling Haaland delivered essentially the same message ahead of the trip to Anfield, insisting that City must stick together rather than allow the noise around the club to fracture the squad."I care a lot about this place. I spent my first four years here, it's a special place for us," Haaland told Sky Sports. "I care a lot about City and the fans. I am a fan myself. I feel with them."##LINKED_NEWS_69594##The Norway striker knows the atmosphere at Anfield will be intense, but believes that makes unity inside the City camp even more important."The fans will have a good time on Sunday – we have to stick together," he said. "We have to stay with each other and stay positive. No matter what happens in life, we always have to smile. Stay positive, look ahead, and try to win football games and enjoy the situation."We have to stick together and spread the love to each other. Enjoy the ride and smile."##EDITORS_CHOICE##It is a message that has also been reinforced internally. The communication to those connected with City's playing staff has reportedly been just as emphatic: whatever happens away from the pitch, the players must concentrate on what they can control on it.And there is hardly a more demanding way to test that approach than Anfield. After nine days dominated by the Premier League's findings and the fallout from the 115 charges, City now have a football match to play, and one that will immediately put their ability to shut out the noise to the test.ENGLISH PREMIER LEAGUE – MATCHDAY 6Saturday14.30: (1.40) Arsenal (4.85) Leeds (8.20)17.00: (2.70) Aston Villa (3.35) Brentford (2.60)17.00: (1.80) Chelsea (3.70) Bournemouth (4.40)17.00: (2.80) Ipswich (3.40) Fulham (2.50)17.00: (3.10) Sunderland (3.40) Brighton (2.30)19.30: (1.75) Man.Utd.
