Having already defeated Mwitoti Girls to win the 2026 KSSSA national title, Kesogon now have the opportunity to beat the same opponents again on the East African stage, and add the FEASSSA crown to their domestic championship.##NAJAVA_MECA_9907065##Speaking to Mozzart Sport, for Marani the objective is clear.“We are aiming at winning the title because last year we were runners-up, and this one we are going for the top position,” he said.The coach has attributed Kesogon's dominant run to two fundamental principles. “The biggest factor behind this dominant run has been hard work and discipline,” said Marani.Those qualities have been evident throughout their campaign. They conceded just 22 points across the three sets, underlining why they arrived as Kenya's national champions, and one of the favourites to reclaim the regional title they last won in 2024.From there, Kesogon continued their perfect run, defeating Tanzania's Mengele, Uganda's Seroma Christian High School and Rwanda's GS Indangaburezi without conceding a set. The rivalry swung back in Kwanthanze's favour in 2025, when Kesogon finished runners-up both at the national and FEASSSA championships.This year, however, the landscape changed, Kesogon defeated Kwanthanze in the national semifinals, before overcoming Mwitoti in the KSSSA final to regain the national crown. The FEASSSA final will be a repeat of the 2026 KSSSA national championship final between Kesogon and Mwitoti. Despite Kesogon's dominant run in Morogoro, Marani has refused to underestimate the fellow Kenyan side.“I will not underestimate my opponent Mwitoti in the final,” he said. The coach pointed to meetings between the two teams earlier in the year, when Kesogon had divided their squad to compete in a February tournament.According to Marani, Mwitoti defeated one of the Kesogon sides 3-1 in the semi-finals, before meeting another Kesogon team in the final. I had split my team. They met one of my teams in the semis and beat us 3-1. They met a second team in the final, and the game never ended because it was rained off. Because they were leading in scores, we gave them the trophy,” he explained. “But for now, we don't know who's the winner.”The final therefore presents a fresh opportunity for both sides.Kesogon won when the teams met in the national championship final. Mwitoti, however, have their own memories from the February tournament, and will arrive in the FEASSSA final determined to prove they can overturn the national result.
