KCB Rugby Club will be without one of their most dangerous attacking weapons at this weekend’s Driftwood 7s after Kenya international Floyd Wabwire was named in a star-studded RugbyTown USA squad for the 2026 RugbyTown 7s tournament in Glendale, Colorado.
Wabwire is already in the United States ahead of the three-day competition, which will be held from Friday, August 21 to Sunday, August 23 at Infinity Park.
The KCB speedster is the only Kenyan in the 13-man RugbyTown USA squad, which boasts a wealth of international experience from the United States, New Zealand, South Africa and Samoa.He will line up alongside Americans Nick Feakes, Jack Wendling, Dalton Musselman and Ross Depperschmidt; New Zealanders Jacob McKinnon, Danny Tusitala, Sam Chapman, Charles Gemmel, JJ Taulagi and Tom Maiava; South African Chris Schoeman; and Samoa’s John Tia.
Wabwire heads to the United States after playing a key role in KCB’s triumph at the Kabeberi 7s, where the bankers lifted their second title of the 2026 National Sevens Circuit campaign. His explosive pace and finishing ability once again proved crucial as KCB claimed top honours.

The absence of Wabwire will be keenly felt, especially considering the remarkable impact he made at last year’s Driftwood 7s. The speedster enjoyed a tournament to remember, capping off a sensational campaign by emerging as the biggest individual winner.He was named Player of the Final, finished as the tournament’s Top Try Scorer with eight tries and walked away as the Top Points Scorer after accumulating 40 points, underlining his status as one of Kenya’s most lethal sevens players.

The 14th edition of the RugbyTown 7s will bring together 21 elite international, club and military teams battling for the coveted Cup Championship and a winner’s prize of $10,000 (approximately KSh1.3 million).
Tournament organisers have introduced a revamped format this year, with the 21 teams divided into five pools. Military sides will compete exclusively in a dedicated Armed Forces Championship pool, while the tournament will feature 57 fast-paced sevens matches across the three days.
