Record Football Kenya Federation Premier League champions, Gor Mahia, had reasons to smile despite dropping points in their clash against Kenya Police FC. This follows the massive financial returns the club realised from the contest staged at the Nyayo National Stadium on Sunday.
Gor needed a late strike from Ghanaian forward Ebenezer Assifuah to salvage a point as Brian Chonjo had given Police the lead in the first half.
Despite dropping two points, which could have seen the team open a wider gap at the top, Gor walked home with heavy pocket thanks to the sale of match tickets.“A total of 7,490 tickets were sold during today’s match against Police FC at Nyayo Stadium, generating Ksh 2,388,800 in revenue.
We sincerely thank all Gor Mahia fans for the incredible support and continued loyalty,” posted the club after the match. The amount collected from their match against Police represented an increase of Ksh1,430,800, having bagged Ksh958,000 from the previous home encounter against Bandari.

Tickets for the Sunday afternoon clash were categorized into three: regular retailing at Ksh 300, VIP retailing at Ksh 1,000. Those who sat at the VVIP had to part with Ksh 3,000.
Additionally, Gor Mahia ran discounts ahead of the match where, for two days leading to Wednesday 6 May, regular tickets were retailing at Ksh 200.A family offer of four tickets for Ksh1,000 was also available heading to the game.
