The clash has been widely billed as the “final before the final” due to the pedigree and continental experience of both sides. K’Ogalo will be aiming to move a step closer to ending their 41-year wait for the CECAFA Kagame Cup title, while also using the tournament as preparation for the upcoming CAF Champions League campaign. Likewise, Al Hilal will view the encounter as another important test ahead of the CAF Champions League, with both clubs targeting a place in the group stage.

The match also offers Gor Mahia an opportunity to avenge the 2-0 defeat they suffered against Al Hilal Omdurman when the two sides met in the same competition in 2024.
