After returning from a failed move to Tanzania giants Simba, Kenyan midfielder Mohamed Bajaber spent more than one month training with his former club, Kenya Police. The expectation was that the midfielder would sign for the law enforcers as a free agent, and for a while negotiations between the player, his representative and Kenya Police were going well.Download our Mozzart Sport app for more newsAfter all, it was the law enforcers who had released Bajaber to join the Tanzanian giants on a two-year deal last July. For the deal, Bajaber received a sign-on fee of Ksh 8million and a Ksh 850,000 monthly salary. However, six months later, Bajaber, rocked by injuries, failed to cement his place in the Simba starting lineup, leading the two to part ways by mutual consent and forcing the player to return home. While Kenya Police were negotiating with Bajaber to return to the club, moneybags Nairobi United hijacked the move after the law keepers failed to match the midfielder’s demands.“Kenya Police FC failed to match the Ksh 2 million signing fee demanded by the player. For a one-year deal, Police FC felt it was not worth it,” a source who was involved in the negotiations revealed.Bajaber also demanded a Ksh 300,000 monthly salary, which Nairobi United was willing to offer. The player remains ambitious to move abroad, hence his decision to sign just a one-year contract with Nairobi United.Bajaber played his first match for Nairobi United on Sunday, 1 November, in a 1-1 tie against Bandari at Police Sacco grounds. The 23-year-old midfielder previously played for Nairobi City Stars, now featuring in the National Super League (NSL) for four seasons between 2021 and 2024, making 63 appearances and scoring 11 goals. He played for Kenya Police in three matches in 2025, scoring three goals before moving to Tanzania. He is also part of the Harambee Stars squad that has been called up to play South Africa in two 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers later this month.
