Kylian Mbappe has unintentionally reignited a debate in Madrid after sharing a glimpse of his recovery work, with images showing the Real Madrid forward using both a treadmill and an exercise bike. However, it was a message accompanying one of the pictures, rather than the workout itself, that quickly attracted attention.According to the Spanish newspaper “Sport”, Mbappe posted a picture of himself smiling at the camera while the song “Good News.. Bad Guys” played in the background. The image also contained the words: “Who’s the bad one? The very bad one?” With an exercise bike clearly visible, the post immediately sparked speculation among Madrid supporters.
The reason is linked to recent comments from Jose Mourinho, who discussed what he believes it means to maintain complete professionalism as a footballer. The Portuguese coach argued that players need to consider the risks involved in their everyday activities, particularly those that could potentially result in an injury.Mourinho specifically mentioned cycling, pointing out that even something as ordinary as riding a bicycle carries a certain risk for a professional player. A fall, he suggested, could result in anything from missing several games to suffering a serious injury such as a broken leg.His argument went beyond contractual obligations, focusing instead on a player’s responsibility, public image and dedication to maintaining peak physical condition.

That context made Mbappe’s latest post particularly interesting. Seeing the Frenchman on an exercise bike during his rehabilitation immediately reminded many in Madrid of Mourinho’s remarks, even though Mbappe was clearly using the equipment as part of his recovery programme. The timing has only added to the speculation. Mbappe is currently under an increased spotlight after leaving the France camp with a knee problem and continuing his rehabilitation away from Madrid with the club’s approval.
There is, however, no indication that Frenchman intended his post as a response to Mourinho, nor did he mention the Portuguese manager directly. Still, the combination of the cryptic message, the song lyrics and the prominent exercise bike was enough to fuel plenty of discussion around the Spanish capital.
