Last year they beat me. I went back to the drawing board and corrected where we went wrong and that's why we beat them this year," said Marani. "We won the game through defence, reception and velocity in service. That's basically how we won it."The victory sends Kesogon into their fourth-consecutive KSSSA national final, having won the title in 2023, before finishing runners-up to Kwanthanze in both 2024 and 2025.KSSSA: Green Commandos dig deep against Menengai to set up dream mini Mashemeji Derby finalDespite reaching the championship match, Marani insisted the job is only half done."The journey hasn't been easy and it's still not easy because we haven't finished the competition," he said. "My expectations in the final are that we have met Soweto before in the preliminary matches and we've beaten them. We pray to God to help us win the championship."Soweto Academy secured the second place in the final after defeating Western Region champions St. Martha's Mwitoti 3-1.After dropping the opening set 25-17, the Nairobi representatives responded strongly, taking the next three sets 25-16, 25-20 and 25-21 to complete the comeback and reach their first KSSSA girls' volleyball final in more than a decade.Head coach Wycliffe Wafula said reaching the final marked an important milestone for the school."I expect a very good match from my girls. We were longing to reach that final which we played more than 10 years ago and I believe the girls are going to play very well," said Wafula.Soweto suffered a straight-sets defeat to Kesogon during the preliminary stage, but Wafula believes his side has addressed the shortcomings that cost them in that encounter."We lost to Kesogon in the preliminaries because our serving wasn't good, but we've worked on that, and I hope we'll do better and win against Kesogon," he said. The boys' semifinals were equally decisive, with both finalists progressing in straight sets.Western Region champions Chesamisi Boys dismantled Nyanza representatives Masara Secondary School 3-0.
