Manchester City have endured a remarkably busy few days in the transfer market, with two high-profile departures confirmed from the Etihad. Rodri has completed his move to Barcelona, while Tijjani Reijnders has joined Saudi Arabian side Al-Qadsiah, bringing City €120 million in guaranteed income.
At the same time, the Premier League giants continue to work on the ambitious signing of Ayoub Bouaddi and are now considering another addition to their midfield.
According to an exclusive report from the Daily Mail, Roma star Manu Kone has emerged as a potential target for the reigning Premier League side. The 25-year-old French international impressed during the World Cup in North America and has attracted plenty of interest this summer.
Manchester United had also identified Kone as an alternative option if their pursuit of Baleba failed, but with the Red Devils reportedly nearing an agreement with Brighton, a move to Old Trafford now appears unlikely. That could leave Kone staying in Manchester, but on the other side of the city.

Meanwhile, Maresca’s wish is Enzo Fernandez, although the Blues would reportedly demand a minimum of €140 million for the midfielder. In comparison, Kone would be a much more affordable solution, with the Daily Mail claiming Roma could sanction his departure for around €60 million.
Kone arrived at Roma from Borussia Monchengladbach for €18 million two summers ago and has since featured 63 times for the Italian club. During that period, he has contributed four goals and six assists. His real value, however, comes from his physical power, mobility and ability to operate effectively in a high-intensity, dynamic midfield.
There has been a significant transformation at the Etihad since Guardiola departed. Rodri, Bernardo Silva, Reijnders, Stones and Ake have all moved on, while Marmoush and Savinho could also leave, with Tottenham reportedly looking to bring both players to North London.
Despite all the movement, City have already spent €178 million this summer. Most of that investment has gone towards Anderson, who, for now, remains the only new signing expected to have a major impact on the team during the upcoming campaign.
