Vihiga Queens suffer another defeat at Trinity Starlets bag first win of season

Vihiga Queens’ struggles continued on Sunday, 25 October, after they suffered a 2-0 home defeat to Kayole Starlets at the Mumias Sports Complex. Vihiga have been on a downward trajectory over the past three seasons, with their situation worsening in 2026, largely due to financial constraints.

This marks a stark contrast to the club’s previous success, when they represented Kenya in the CAF Women’s Champions League. Vihiga Queens have since struggled to meet their basic needs, prompting well-wishers to step in with support. The latest gesture came from Kenya Police Bullets Secretary General Chris Oguso, who donated boots and match balls to the struggling side.

Having lost their opening four matches, Vihiga Queens had hoped to turn their fortunes around at home against Kayole Starlets. However, they suffered another defeat, extending their losing streak to five matches in five games.

Naomi Masinde opened the scoring in the 15th minute, calmly slotting home from a pass by Eunice Bobby to give Kayole Starlets the lead, which they maintained until half-time. Vihiga pushed for an equaliser in the closing stages but left themselves exposed at the back.

Kayole capitalised on a quick transition, with Magneta Ocharo expertly finding the back of the net to double the visitors’ advantage and seal the victory. At Sudi Stadium in Bungoma, church-backed Trinity Starlets registered their maiden victory of the season with a convincing 3-1 win over Bungoma Queens.
