New deal: Arteta commits his future to Arsenal

Mikel Arteta has signed a new contract that will keep him at Arsenal until 2030, extending his tenure at the club and committing him to the long-term project he has helped build since arriving in December 2019.The 44-year-old's previous deal was due to expire at the end of this season, but an agreement over an improved contract had already been reached, with media reporting earlier this month that the two sides were close to finalising the extension.##TWITTER_

Forward together. The new agreement places him among the highest-paid managers in European football, with Atletico Madrid boss Diego Simeone and former Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola reportedly earning more than £20m annually.Since taking charge at Arsenal, Arteta has won the Premier League and FA Cup, while establishing the club as a regular challenger at the top end of English and European football. His side also reached the Champions League final in May, where they were beaten by Paris Saint-Germain.##TWITTER_

💬 "I am so passionate. "We have already built a special bond and created memories that will last a lifetime, and what is so exciting is that this is only the beginning of what we can achieve together."Arsenal's co-chairmen Stan and Josh Kroenke also stressed the importance of keeping Arteta in place as the club looks to build on its recent progress.19.00: (1.60) Constantine (3.40) Biskra (6.25)"We share a special bond with Mikel. We are so proud of everything we have achieved since he returned to the club in 2019," they said."He has a deep understanding of Arsenal's values and carries them in his heart. He knows what this club means to everyone connected to it and is committed to building on everything we have achieved together."##EDITORS_CHOICE##There had been little indication that Arteta was considering leaving the Emirates, particularly after overseeing Arsenal's transformation into one of the strongest sides in European football. His new contract now provides further stability as the club attempts to turn that progress into sustained success. With Arteta committed until 2030, Arsenal have secured the continuity of a project that has already delivered major silverware and brought the club back into contention at the highest level. The next challenge is to add to that history, and Arteta now has the opportunity to do so over the next four years.
